Hello there!
Thankyou so much for visiting my blog!
God willing, sometime over the next few years, I am hoping to visit India and volunteer as a palliative care doctor for the Emmanuel Hospital Association. To raise awareness of, and funds for, the Association, I have come up with the idea of swimming to India. Well.... maybe not quite swimming all the way! There are 6720 km between Gatwick and Delhi. So I though I might swim 6720 lengths of my local pool. If I swim 60 lengths 3 times a week this will take me about a year. I will keep you updated on my progress!
It would be great if you wanted to look at the Associations website for more details. But essentially it is christian charity, consisting of over 70 missionary hospitals around India. I have various direct links to the Association, including through the Christian Medical Fellowship. I am not sure which hospital I will work for yet, nor for how long I will go. I was going to be helping with the new palliative care unit in Lalitpur, Uttar Pradesh, for a few months this autumn, but this was postponed due to illness.
Please do ask me any questions at all. I will update this blog as new developments arise. If you would like to sponsor me for the swim that would be amazing. The association does not have a Justgiving site unfortunately (would be a much easier way of donating), so until I think of a better way, cheques addressed to me will be put into a special account, and then I can give the money directly to the Association. However please don't feel you have to sponsor me, partly this blog is to raise awareness for the Association. Prayer for them would be awesome:)
Lots of love and thanks again for reading! I'll update you soon! xxx
